The King's Speech is a brilliant movie telling a true story of King George VI  of United Kingdom who suffered from stammer since childhood. George's wife Elizabeth introduces him to an eccentric Australian speech therapist, Lionel Logue, who starts his treatment in the most unorthodox ways, that are hilarious and caring in nature. The movie seems so real that you actually feel for the King who is helpless in front of his disability but has a brave and determined heart that helps him overcome his fear of speech.

George's elder brother Edward VIII inherits the throne after King George V's demise but with in a year he abdicates his throne in order to marry an American socialite, Wallis Simpson and suddenly the throne is awarded to George (Bertie), which he dreaded alot because of his speech impediment. George reluctantly assumes the throne and continues his friendship cum therapy sessions with Lionel Logue and slowly started fighting his stammering.

The movie has very inspirational with clever script, crisp story line, witty one liners here and there to make things light. Lionel proved to play a very important role in King George VI's reign, who helped George to speak for/to his nation, boldly lead and unite his nation into an imminent World War II. The movie concludes with a very heart warming scene, where King George delivers his first speech to the nation without a stammer, Lionel Logue standing infront of him all along as a support, encouraging him to speak fluently.

Colin Firth playing the role of George VI has shown amazing performance and a well deserved receiver of "Best Actor, Golden Globe Award"  for this movie.

This movie got me really curious about the historical events that were shown and I came across an actual speech from 1939, in which the King is making his first address to the nation without a stammer. Its amazing how history comes alive in movies :). Do check the clip below:
