I admit I had put off watching Edge of Darkness since few days after its download just for the sole reason that its trailer was quiet deceiving and had striking similarities with Taken (2009) action movie where the basic plot of the story is same as Edge of Darkness, a bereaved father is on a mission to avenge his daughter's disappearance and I wasn't ready to watch another similar action flick because Taken had already left quiet an impression on me last year and I really enjoyed watching that. Nonetheless, Edge of Darkness had strong cast so I decided to give it a try and ended up proving myself wrong....because these two movies are wayyyyyy different.

Plot of the moive, Edge of Darkness: Daughter of a homicide detective Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson) is shot dead by unknown shooters right in his house. He starts off investigating his daughters murder just to discover a secret life of his daughter and a corporate, government cover ups for illegal nuclear weapon assembling set up.

My opinion? Even though the movie trailer gave an impression of an action flick but it disappointed me for being more of a drama. Its more about the distress of a grieving father rather than avenging his daughters murder. It didn't leave a deep impact on the viewer, got a bit boring in between. Maybe if I hadn't watched Taken, I would have liked it more. 

Taken was fast moving, strong story line, action movie that left you in a spin. I still remember, after watching Taken....I was like...."I AM NEVER GOING TO TRAVEL ALONE EVER"...It was a real...."this could happen to you" type of story, where two young girls excited, travel across the continent, to Europe in order to follow their favourite music band but end up getting kidnapped on the very first day of their arrival and taken off for human trafficking and prostitution....the father of one these girls, is a retired CIA agent (Liam Neeson) who tracks them down somehow and saves them. Its alot more exciting than HOW I have narrated :D

Anyhow, Edge of Darkness = Good, watchable...when nothing better to watch

              Taken                  = Excellent, a must watch :)
