Buried was recommended to me by one of my closest friend, who is another movie buff like me :p, with one comment that its a TRAGIC THRILLER...i didn't get it at that time but man! after watching the movie I wanted to make my friends life TRAGIC :D
First things first I classify this movie as one of the GREATEST and GRIPPING thriller movies Iv ever watched! The story line was different from any of the usual thrillers. From start till end the movie is intense on claustrophobic tension and you will suffocate million times before the movie comes to an end. :) but hey thats the good part :D you will know once you watch the movie.
Buried is about an American Truck driver, Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) in Iraq, his convoy is ambushed by a group of Iraqis and he is taken hostage and placed into coffin 6 feet deep in the ground with a mobile phone thats draining out of energy, a lighter, limited oxygen and he has about 90 minutes in order to arrange a ransom for the kidnappers before his worst nightmare comes true.
The whole movie is full of suspense, Ryan Reynolds superbly conveying the terror of being trapped in a coffin that hardly allows him to roll to his side, the panic, the suffocation and extreme fear of dying in there that makes this movie so appealing and gripping. This movie is everyone's worst nightmare. Just the thought of being confined into a tiny box with limited air to breath can give you the chills.
As if the situation which Ryan Reynolds depicting wasn't enough, the real shocker is the ending of the movie. Its not what you would expect from a typical thriller movie where the good wins and the bad loses. This movie doesn't let you enjoy even one ounce of comfort. After the movie ended I finally understood what a truly tragic, heart wrenching and almost perfect (I think) ending was given to the movie.
