Let Me In: CREEPY!

Title: Let Me In
Cast: Chloe Mortez, Kodi Smit McPhee
Directed By: Matt Reeves
Running Time: 1hr. 55min
Release: Oct 1, 2010
Genre: Drama, Horror, Romance

The movie in some weird way reminded me of Twilight Saga, where the whole story revolves around the vampire not being just the cold hearted creature, instead it has feelings and can become good friends to humans, love and protect them. If you are vampire movie fan, Let me In might be the movie that you were searching for, to spend an eerie, damp evening with. On second thoughts, the movie's striking resemblance with twilight is dealt with quiet nicely by emphasizing again and again in a realistic way that being a vampire is a curse and instead of vampires sparkling in sunlight, Let Me In, sticks to the original lore of vampires, that sunlight is fatal for them.

Release: 10th Dec, 2010

The King's Speech is a brilliant movie telling a true story of King George VI  of United Kingdom who suffered from stammer since childhood. George's wife Elizabeth introduces him to an eccentric Australian speech therapist, Lionel Logue, who starts his treatment in the most unorthodox ways, that are hilarious and caring in nature. The movie seems so real that you actually feel for the King who is helpless in front of his disability but has a brave and determined heart that helps him overcome his fear of speech.

George's elder brother Edward VIII inherits the throne after King George V's demise but with in a year he abdicates his throne in order to marry an American socialite, Wallis Simpson and suddenly the throne is awarded to George (Bertie), which he dreaded alot because of his speech impediment. George reluctantly assumes the throne and continues his friendship cum therapy sessions with Lionel Logue and slowly started fighting his stammering.

Megamind and All that HYPE?!

Title: Megamind
Cast:  Will Ferrel, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, Ben Stiller
Directed By: Tom McGrath , Cameron Hood
Running Time: 1hr, 36min
Release: Novemeber 5, 2010
Genre: Animation/Comedy/Family

Animated movies have rarely impressed me and very few of them Iv really enjoyed watching like some of the recent ones Shrek Series, How to Train Your Dragon, Tangled, Despicable Me etc. Unfortunately, after watching Megamind I couldn't exactly make up my mind as to include it into the above list or not. The hype that was created about this movie among my friends circle and generally on the internet motivated me to give this movie a try. But like certain other movies, the hype was ALOT more than the movie actually deserved. :-/

Megamind is a satirical hit on superhero concept. If you cross the Incredibles and the recent Despicable Me, the resultant outcome would be more or less like Megamind in which the villain proves to be not such a bad guy after all and saves the day by defeating a new villain.

I admit I had put off watching Edge of Darkness since few days after its download just for the sole reason that its trailer was quiet deceiving and had striking similarities with Taken (2009) action movie where the basic plot of the story is same as Edge of Darkness, a bereaved father is on a mission to avenge his daughter's disappearance and I wasn't ready to watch another similar action flick because Taken had already left quiet an impression on me last year and I really enjoyed watching that. Nonetheless, Edge of Darkness had strong cast so I decided to give it a try and ended up proving myself wrong....because these two movies are wayyyyyy different.

The Other Guys is the highest rated comedy movie of the year 2010, that will crack you up with laughter till the end. Its a typical odd-couple cop story loaded with funniest parody of bad-ass cops action, explosives, car chases and glass shatters.

Its a story about a nerdy (Will Ferrel) and disgruntled dim witted (Mark Wahlberg) detectives, stepping up to the opportunity of going into the field when the Police force suddenly loses its two top cops that every one in the department idolized. They start off with investigating a scaffolding permit violation by a billionaire business man (Steve Coogan) but end up uncovering a much bigger plot for fraud and cover for losses of his company from the shareholders.

Buried was recommended to me by one of my closest friend, who is another movie buff like me :p, with one comment that its a TRAGIC THRILLER...i didn't get it at that time but man! after watching the movie I wanted to make my friends life TRAGIC :D

First things first I classify this movie as one of the GREATEST and GRIPPING thriller movies Iv ever watched! The story line was different from any of the usual thrillers. From start till end the movie is intense on claustrophobic tension and you will suffocate million times before the movie comes to an end. :) but hey thats the good part :D you will know once you watch the movie.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Funny Quotes

Title: Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Cast:  Zachary Gordon, Robert Capron and Rachael Harris

Director: Thor Freudenthal
Running Time: 1 hr. 33 min.
Release Date: Mar 19, 2010
Genre: ComedyKids & Family

After watching a series of serious movies, I decided to go for something light this time, and randomly picked this movie (the trailer was funny enough :p). Although it was too childish for my taste but I still enjoyed a number of scenes during the movie. :)

Apparently, the movie has been adapted from "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Greg Heffley's Journal or Diary of a Wimpy Kid: A Novel in Cartoons" written by Jeff Kinney. The story is about a middle school kid, Greg Heffley who receives a diary from his mother, which he insists on calling it a "journal" so that he doesn't get bullied for it in the middle school.

Conviction-My Thoughts

Cast: Hillary Swank, Sam Rockwell, Minnie Driver, Peter Gallagher
Directed By: Tony Goldwyn
Running Time: 1 hr, 46 min
Genre: Drama
Release Date: 15th Oct, 2010                                                            DOWNLOAD HERE

Last night I came across this amazing and highly inspirational movie based on true story of Anne Waters (Hillary Swank) whose elder brother (Sam Rockwell) was wrongfully convicted of an atrocious murder and sentenced for life in 1983. Its Anne Waters surprisingly persistent crusade to prove her brothers innocence over the period of 18 years. Anne Waters was a working class Massachusetts high school drop out who made it her life's cause to free her brother from prison. It was her persistent and amazing journey of how she opted to enroll herself in a law school and became a lawyer just to be able to defend her brother and reopen the case. During the course of time, she sacrificed her marriage, missed out on her two sons childhood...for the love of a brother who had been her best friend and protector since they were kids.

The Intent

I don't even remember when was the first time I got fascinated by movies and started watching them. I remember my childhood spent with disney movies...Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid etc or I would climb besides my mom on our usual couch and silently watch whatever movie that she used to watch,  even though I would hardly understand them but mom would later pull me close and lovingly tell me the whole story and I would think about them for days all happy and wanting to hear more ..... thats my first vivid memory of getting the taste of fantasy world and how wonderful it felt to be transported to some other time period, some other world that you thought didn't even existed. :)
